IMPCO Automotive, headquartered in Sterling Heights, MI, is an industry leader in the design, development, and installation of alternative fuel solutions. IMPCO is a division of Fuel System Solutions Inc., specializing in Dedicated and Bi-Fuel CNG and Bi-Fuel LPG Injection systems. Utilizing technology based off its sister company and global industry leader BRC Gas Equipment, IMPCO Automotive is responsible for all existing Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and future California Air Resources Board (CARB) certifications, as well as all application engineering and servicing in the North American market, with particular regard to the U.S. The company’s manufacturing facility is located in Union City, IN.

Founded as IMPCO Technologies, Inc., they have been in the alternative fuel business for over fifty years, opening their first facility in 1958. In 2012, the automotive division spun off to create IMPCO Automotive in order to better service and support the growing North American alternative fuels market. IMPCO Automotive continues to forge new relationships with some of the largest and most influential original equipment manufacturers in the world.
IMPCO Automotive’s North American headquarters and research and development facility is located in Sterling Heights, MI. Being located just outside of Detroit, “The Motor City”, allows them to attract the country’s top automotive talent in engineering and automotive technical support as well as to be just a short drive from many of the major automotive companies and Tier One suppliers expanding into alternative fuel solutions. This facility also houses 24 hour, 7 day per week durability test beds, along with world-class, fully EPA- and CARB-compliant high speed emissions test facilities.
The manufacturing facility consists of three high volume production lines, five stall build bays, one of few fully functioning indoor fast fill CNG stations in the country, a paint and coating booth, a 20,000 square foot parts and components warehouse, and a quality lab for component layout analysis. Upon completion of every build, each vehicle converted there also runs on a chassis dynamometer and test track with rumble strips to ensure proper quality control.
