Company Overview
ROUSH CleanTech develops propane autogas fuel systems for light- and medium-duty Ford commercial vehicles and Blue Bird school buses. These vehicles maintain the identical Ford factory warranty coverage and serviceability. There is no loss in performance and no cold start issues. Range and fuel economy are similar to gasoline. Both the Environmental Protection Agency and the California Air Resources Board certify all ROUSH CleanTech vehicle fuel systems.

Fourteen propane autogas models are available for immediate production. They are:

Clean, Economical Propane Autogas
Propane autogas is the third most commonly used transportation fuel in both the nation and the world, behind only gasoline and diesel. According to the World LP Gas Association, there are 21 million propane autogas vehicles across the globe. Vehicles have operated on propane autogas for more than 100 years.

Almost 75 percent of the propane used in the U.S. comes as a naturally occurring by-product from our nation’s abundant supplies of natural gas. The national supply of propane is much greater than demand — making propane an affordable, abundant and logical option for fueling fleet vehicles.

Washington state’s King County has been aggressive in reducing emissions in the Puget Sound region. Their Department of Transportation operates propane autogas vehicles for road surveying, traffic signal repairs and other maintenance issues. Each year the county has consumed 15,000 fewer gallons of gasoline, eliminated 120,000 pounds of carbon dioxide, and saved 50 percent in fuel costs with their 20 propane autogas trucks and vans.

The decision by Michigan’s Flint Mass Transportation Authority (MTA) to purchase propane autogas vehicles was based on sustainability for the future, both economically and environmentally. By operating 72 community shuttle buses fueled by propane autogas, the MTA eliminates more than 1.4 million pounds of carbon dioxide each year. Flint MTA is saving $70,000 per vehicle during their normal 10-year lifecycle for a total savings of more than $5 million with propane autogas.

ThyssenKrupp Elevator, the nation’s largest elevator company, operates 54 trucks and vans across five geographic markets. Compared to their conventionally fueled vehicles, the company pays $4,000 less in fuel costs per year per vehicle. Each vehicle also eliminates almost 7,000 pounds of carbon dioxide annually.

Other nationally known companies fueling with propane autogas include DHL Express, DISH Network, Frito-Lay, Sears and SuperShuttle. All have reported immediate cost and emission savings.

As a domestically-produced fuel, propane autogas vehicles emit 20 percent less nitrogen oxide, 60 percent less carbon monoxide and up to 25 percent less greenhouse gases. Historically priced 30 to 40 percent less than gasoline and 50 percent less than diesel, propane autogas has a well-established refueling infrastructure in place, with thousands of publicly accessible stations across the nation. For fleets considering on-site refueling, propane stations are compact and easy to install — and less expensive than any other alternative fuel option available. In fact, they cost even less than installing a gasoline or diesel station. Because of its EPA classification as a non-contaminant, propane autogas infrastructure has fewer compliance requirements than other fuels. Aboveground infrastructure takes up little space and can be relocated or removed if needed. One propane provider recently installed three refueling stations for Sears Home Services at no cost to Sears.

For the drivers, the speed and simplicity of propane autogas refueling is comparable to that of gasoline or diesel.
